Employee Spotlight – Karl Agcaoili

 Employee Spotlight: Karl Agcaoili

Name:

Karl Agcaoili

Job Title and Responsibilities:

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Analyst

In simple terms, I am a customer advocate and process automation consultant. I work with financial managers to help turn repetitive, time-consuming manual processes into intelligent automations. Organizations implementing RPA aim, among other things, to save time and money, to increase workforce productivity, and to improve data accuracy.

About Me:

My core values are as follows: humility, leadership, learning and accountability.

In the grand scheme of things, we are all small and share the human experience. Treat others with respect, be kind and show appreciation.

A great friend and mentor once told me, “We are all learning leaders.” As a leader in development, I aim to bring out the best in people.

Continuous learning keeps me motivated and forward thinking. I enjoy following future trends and innovations.

Last but not the least, I am big on accountability. It is as important in federal budgeting as it is in life! There are 21 trillion reasons why. With accountability, promises are easier to deliver, product quality improves, future planning becomes more attainable, and collective successes become more frequent.

Outside work, I enjoy home improvement projects, traveling and hanging out with my dog.

Qualifications & Expertise & Achievements:

I am in a phase in my career where I am defining my leadership style. I am finding more meaning in team achievements than in personal.

I am fortunate enough to have learned federal budgeting from the best during unprecedented times. I started my internship at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and was hired as a full-time civil servant. This was during a time when the economy was experiencing a tremendous recession and Congress passed major laws like the Budget Control Act (BCA). All of these made budgeting headline news. Before I knew it, I was in deep... I did not choose budgeting, budgeting chose me!

Fast forward to now and I have applied my budget and financial management knowledge to an array of resource management problems, including RPA. I find fulfillment in seeing my clients and teammates succeed and seeing organizations under real transformative change.

Memberships and Activities (Professional and Other):

American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC), American Association of Program and Budget Analysts (AABPA)

Getting to Know Karl:

1. If you could chat with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and what would you talk about?

Over coffee, I would like to sit down with two family members: 1) 50 years from the past and 2) 50 years from the future. Topic will be What can we learn from each other?

2. What’s the strangest talent you have?

May not be the strangest, but I enjoy cooking for people I care about. A mix of inspiration, creativity and good conversation. The food just tastes better!

3.What was your favorite TV show when growing up?

David Attenborough Nature Shows. He is the voice of nature. The hero of the natural world. No one comes close. Snub-nose monkeys, narwhals, and komodo dragons are examples of the interesting creatures he introduced me to. Today, I thank Netflix for my continuing exploration of the world.
