About Me:

I am a Mobile, AL, native and a lover of laughter, music, dancing, and all things “Mobile.” My love of dance led me to the University of Southern Mississippi where I was a member of the precision dance team, the Dixie Darlings. While attending Auburn, I met an Alabama fan who would later become my husband?! Cole and I were married in 2006 and in 2011, I traded my 20+ years of dancing and teaching experience for all things boy when our son, Dylan, was born. From t-ball and basketball to swimming and fishing, he keeps us busy and laughing along the way!

Prior to joining the Thompson Gray team, I held various positions such as Staff Accountant for Sequel, Financial Analyst for Comcast, and System Program Analyst for the Prototype Integration Facility (PIF). Joining the Thompson Gray team has been a very rewarding experience for me. They have challenged me and allowed me to grow in ways I didn’t think were possible.

Employee Spotlight – Leah Gnaoui

Name:  Leah (Crocker) Gnaoui

About Me:

I grew up in southern Indiana in a town of less than two thousand.  We had lots of corn, one ‘Bring your Tractor to School Day’ and zero stoplights.  From there I went to Indiana University (where else?!) and majored in Economics and Nonprofit Management.  After graduating, I worked for Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS)-Indianapolis as a government civilian for three years before moving to Kuwait on a whim.  It was there that I got my start as a federal contractor and met my now husband, Raed.

My year in Kuwait enabled me to couple my DFAS/Army finance experience with a desire to increase my systems knowledge and start a career with GFEBS.  In 2013, I moved to DC and began working for Thompson Gray supporting the GFEBS P2P team, specifically Army’s transition to Treasury Direct Disbursing and the Supplier Self-Services (SUS) vendor invoicing pilot.  After a handful of Tunisian and American ceremonies, Raed and I were officially married in May 2016.  In August 2017, we were fortunate to be able to move to Wiesbaden, Germany to provide Tier II support to US Army Command Europe’s GFEBS Command Direct Support Helpdesk.

Job Title and Responsibilities:

GFEBS ERP Specialist – Provide assistance with resolving any GFEBS issues that USAREUR customers experience as they relate to knowledge of processes, invalid data, or any system errors

Qualifications & Expertise & Achievements:

At DFAS I had the opportunity to rotate through several departments to include Travel Pay, Wounded Warrior Pay, and Disbursing Operations, as well as obtain my Lean6 Sigma Blackbelt certification.

On GFEBS, our small P2P team helped Army become the first military Service to pilot and deploy Treasury Direct Disbursing.

  • What is the best vacation you have ever taken?
    1. Raed and I went to Tunisia with his family last year and it was absolutely the most amazing trip I’ve ever taken. Tunisia alone is beautiful, and traveling with his family meant we could go to people’s homes, attend weddings, etc. that I would have never been able to experience otherwise.

I have been with Thompson Gray for 1.5 years, after retiring from the US Government.  I worked in contracting for 22 years; 16 of those was executing cradle to grave contracts with the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville. I spent six months at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona.  Yes, my six months were in the summer, but I loved it there.  The remaining years were at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.  Previously, I worked in the legal and law enforcement fields.  I worked with the Office of the Judge Advocate General in Heidelberg, Germany; Staff Judge Advocate at the Presidio of San Francisco; Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI), and a private attorney.  I met my husband, Paul, while working at ABI.  He walked into my office one day, and five months later we married.  Being a military spouse is not always easy, but the experience is priceless.  Thirty-two years later, we have one son, my two step-sons; and eight grandchildren.  I love creating things, from growing plants, decorating cakes, arranging flowers, to quilting.  At a young age, my Daddy ‘decided’ that I would learn piano, and Mother taught me to quilt.  I have used these priceless gifts all my life.

What is the best vacation you have ever taken? It wasn’t really a vacation, as we were moving to my husband’s next assignment.  It was a wonderful trip though.  We drove across the United States from Ft Lauderdale, Florida; through Huntsville, Alabama; across the southern states to the Pacific Ocean; and along the coast to San Francisco.   I had never traveled west before.  Driving allowed me to see, for the first time, how the scenery changes from east to west.  It was amazing.

At which store would you like to max-out your credit card? Huntsville Sew and Vac, who provides me with my stash of fabric and quilting supplies.
